St. James Parish Government, DHR, Community Action Agency Invites Residents To Certify For Quarterly Commodities Program
St. James Parish Government, Department of Human Resources, Community Action Agency will be taking applications for the Quarterly Commodities Food Distribution Program for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 beginning June 1st-June 30th, 2021. All persons receiving quarterly commodities must recertify annually by reporting current household information and proof of income. Individuals who are not currently receiving quarterly commodities are encouraged to complete an application including the following documentation: picture identification (ID), current proof of household income and residency i.e. utility bill, to receive commodities during the next distribution.

The News Examiner-Enterprise was recently made aware of a website maintained by ProPublica that allows users to view, by zip code, Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loans made to businesses that were affected by COVID-19 lockdowns, shutdowns and other restrictions imposed upon businesses throughout the United States, Louisiana and here in St. James Parish.
Councilman Upset With Certain Language Included In Two Council Resolutions
St. James Parish Councilman Mason Bland cast votes against two resolutions that appeared before the Council during last Wednesday’s meeting held in Vacherie because he said he did not like certain language used in the two resolutions.

The local VFW, Post 5852, would like to thank the members of the community who helped place more than 1,600 American Flags on the graves of soliders from St. James Parish who served, fought and died fighting for the many, many freedoms we Americans enjoy each day.
