HAPPY NEW YEAR HEADLINES: Happy New Year faithful readers. We’re off to a great start in the new year with national recognition coming to St. James Parish because of our exemplary people. Everybody’s Uncle Larry Roussel was chosen to be one of the representatives of our great state and given the honor of riding in the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California on New Year’s Day. The Louisiana float featured all the products that go into a pot of gumbo. We know that Uncle Larry knows all about gumbo and how to make any kind of gumbo anyone could want. I’m not quite sure about this, but someone told me his middle name is Gumbo. Uncle Larry was in the good company of Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain and other noted Louisianians. Before he left California to come home, Uncle Larry and some of his new friends were searching for the “Little Old Lady from Pasadena,” who was first introduced to us by Jan & Dean in 1964. Apparently, she is still on the go granny, go granny, go granny, go. I’ll be checking in with Uncle Larry in the next few days to find out whether he found her and his plans to feature her in an upcoming promotion for Louisiana products.
