We learned Friday that Dr. Percy Pierre will receive an honorary degree at the Loyola University graduation on Saturday, May 9. Dr. Pierre, who was born in the St. James community of Freetown, is the first African American in the United States to earn a Ph.D. in electrical engineering. He helped to shape national conversations around diversity and engineering and has become one of the most noted and celebrated scholars and statesmen in recent history. Lady ‘Dogs Prepare For State Playoffs
The Lutcher Lady Bulldog Softball team ends regular season play this week and will now turn its attention to the upcoming state playoffs. Last season Lutcher reached the semifinals at the State Tournament and loss to eventual state champion North Desoto.
