I appreciate your very kind expressions of sympathy following the death of my dad. He shared great stories with me up to a day before he died. He had a remarkable long-term memory. As was said at the funeral, he was not a veteran, but if watching war movies would count for anything, he would be a high-ranking officer in exchange for all the hours spent in front of the TV. If all the John Wayne movies and westerns would matter, he would be an honorary cowboy.
