An item deemed to be of “heightened urgency” for the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office was mistakenly omitted from the St. James Parish Council meeting agenda last week and this prompted Council members to put the matter on the agenda to allow them to set a public hearing regarding voter precincts for the coming fall elections.
As we approach the heart of the 2023 hurricane season, the Town of Lutcher and other Parish public entities are putting measures in place now to help in recovery efforts should the Town and Parish get hit by a hurricane in the forseeable future.
St. James Parish Schools Superintendent Chris Kimball announced Tuesday, July 11, 2023, that Angie Poché has been named principal of Lutcher High School. In attendance at the meeting, Poché said she attended Lutcher High School as a student and returned to teach there. She said she is excited to assume the new position and is looking forward to the new school year. She has already met with the school faculty and staff to hear their comments and ideas.
This year the Miss St. James Parish Pageant will be celebrating 70 years. The date of the pageant is August 12, 2023, at Lutcher High School. We are looking for all past Miss and Teen St. James Parish queens to attend the celebration.
