St. James Parish Hospital is proud to announce the 2022 Employee of the 2nd Quarter, Jennifer Granier, PharmD. Jennifer was nominated by fellow staff and chosen by the Executive Leadership Team for her dedication to the hospital.
St. James High School will name Cory Geason to the school’s Hall of Fame on Friday, September 23rd. The All-State tight end was a three-time All-District selection on offense and defense, a three-time selection to the All-River Parish Team, and was selected to play in the LHSCA All-Star Game. Geason caught 31 passes for 445-yards and 8 touchdowns as a senior on offense, tallied 51 tackles and 5 sacks on defense, and scored 80 points including a field goal on special teams.
Last Sunday the St. James Parish Boat Club, with the help of Louisiana Sugar Refiners (LSR), welcomed the newest and cutest member of the Boat Club family as Molasses, a three-month old white tail female fawn, was delivered and placed in the fenced in pen behind the Boat Club’s main building.
The week of September 19 - 23, 2022, has been designated as Voter Registration Week under the Provision of R.S. 18 and shall be conducted annually. The deadline to register in person or by mail to be eligible to vote in the November 8, 2022 Congressional Election is October 10, 2022. Online registration deadline is October 18, 2022 at www.geauxvote.com. Anyone 17-years old or older can register, but one must be 18 on or be- fore election day to be eligible to vote. You must also be a citizen of the United States.
The St. James Parish School Board meeting held Tuesday evening was uneventful as the Board quickly ran through the agenda and conducted a few items of business. One item in particular was the Board entering into a contract with The Piquant Group, who will provide Human Resources services and support. Interim Superintendent Kelly Cook, who is currently leading the District as Superintendent and acting as the Human Resources Director duties following the retirement of long-time HR Director Carol Webre, said she needs support because there are not enough hours in the day to answer every call and every email and stay on top of certifications of the District’s various employees.
