The Catholic Daughters Education Contest is open to 4th through 12th grade students. Contest entry forms were distributed to our local schools back in November. There is also an adult division for Catholic Daughter Members. This year’s theme choices were “Blessed are the Peacemakers” or “Living in Harmony with Others”. Categories include art, essay, poetry, computer art, music, and photography.
The Lutcher Mayor and Board of Aldermen met in regular session on Tuesday and after years of hard work securing $500,000 in funding to resurface a section of King Avenue, the Town now has a contractor that will soon do the work.
Last Wednesday evening, the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office, joined by fellow police departments, fire departments and first responders surprised and paid tribute to the staff, doctors and nurses at St. James Parish Hospital for their outstanding work and dedication throughout the fight against the COVID-19 virus.
Last Friday, former St. James Parish School District psychologist La-Tasha Cubas filed a civil lawsuit against the St. James Parish School Board and several School District’s employees.
Each year the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Joseph #1642, sponsors a $250 scholarship award for a senior going to an accredited college and a $200 scholarship for an 8th grader going to a Catholic high school.
