Dr. Charles Oatis, Sr. and Highway Baptist Church will host a Community Prayer Breakfast on March 25, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Our guest speaker will be the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Clay Schexnayder.
On Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. a Meet & Greet Prayer Breakfast was held at First Community Antioch Baptist Church. Approximately 300 youths, parents, grandparents, church members and leaders, and community leaders and members attended. Deacon Anthony Boudreaux opened with a prayer, followed by a welcome from Mr. Courtney Long. Deacon John Brass provided the purpose and vision. Deacon Brass stood proudly as he reflected on his vision. Rev. Samuel Jones, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, encouraged the community and youths to stay focused and strive for success. Former State Representative, Mr. Roy Quezaire, was the guest speaker who held everyone’s attention as he shared the magnitude of dreams and closed with the ABCs of Life. Dr. Steven Beckham, Pastor of First Community Antioch Baptist Church, shared words of wisdom, support and encouragement. Ms. Melissa Aubert, St. James Parish Schools, stated the importance and need to save our youths and support them as well. She reminded the community that St. James is a great parish with great people. Parish officials, school board member and St. James Parish Schools principals and staff were recognized. Special appreciation was given to Dr. Steven Beckham, Deacon John Brass and Antioch Church members for providing this great opportunity as well as a delicious breakfast. Minister Clyde Cooper, Councilman District 5, blessed the food and provided the benediction.
