BINGO FUNDRAISER THIS SATURDAY: Everyone is invited to the Bingo fundraiser this Saturday, January 17, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Convent. The funds raised will help to fund the stabilization of the church rectory that was affected by Hurricane Ida and not covered by insurance. Doors open at 5 p.m., Early Bird games begin at 6:30 p.m. While waiting to play, patrons can enjoy a meal of gumbo and potato salad for $10 each, sponsored by St. James Parish President Pete Dufresne and prepared by L & M Restaurant in Welcome. A variety of delicious sweets not found in any grocery stores, hotdogs, nachos and cheese, soft drinks and water will be available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Tompkins Pharmacy in Lutcher and from volunteer sellers at $10 each by the 2 p.m. Thursday, January 15 deadline. The deadline to reserve a table and six chairs for $25 for family and friends is 4 p.m. Monday, January 12. Mark your calendars and support a worthy cause.
