The St. James Wildcat football team participated in the Newman Jamboree last Friday in the first game played at Michael Lupin Field in New Orleans.
Malaya Mitchell, a senior at Lutcher High School was recently named North American Regional Champion in the 76 kg (167.51 lbs.) Women’s Division. Malaya traveled to the 20th Annual IPF/NAPF World’s Competition in Grand Cayman, Cayman Island on August 11, 2023. Malaya won Silver in squat 155 kg (341 lbs.), Gold in bench 102.5 kg (225 lbs.), Gold in deadlift 147.5 kg (325 lbs.) and Gold in overall total of 405 kg (892 lbs.). This year Malaya will complete her 4th year of Powerlifting. Malaya also attended Nationals in June in Arizona and won 2nd in her Division.
Year 5 of the camp held on Saturday August 12, 2023 was one of record breaking statistics. Not only was it scorching hot, but the efforts, the results and overall participation were record-breaking. As usual, there was fundamental instruction from men and women who have played at all levels of the game. Though all campers were MVP’s for enduring the Louisiana heat to gain knowledge of a game most of them love, many awards were presented to outstanding campers.
The Lutcher High Lady Bulldog Volleyball season is set to go as second- year head coach Chelsie Bergeron seeks to improve upon last year's 23-14 finish. Lutcher made the postseason, but failed to reach the State Tournament losing to St. Michael in the 2nd round of the Division III state playoffs.
