Low-income residents of St. James Parish may be eligible for financial assistance to help pay utility bills, through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The LIHEAP program is a federally funded program administered by St. James Parish Government, Department of Human Resources, CAA made available to St. James Parish through the Louisiana Housing Corporation. After a nationwide search, Jay Robichaux has filled the role of executive director of the River Parishes Tourist Commission following longtime director Buddy Boe’s departure in June. In this role, Robichaux is responsible for leading a team of tourism professionals in the marketing of St. Charles, St. John the Baptist and St. James parishes - a region that is rich in history and culture.
The St. James Parish Council last week adopted an ordinance authorizing the sale of $8 million of taxable hurricane recovery bonds to pay the costs of debris removal, demolition, rehabilitation, repair, reconstruction, ren ovation, and other expenses incurred in Hurricane Ida recovery.
