Voters in St. James Parish and across the State who had not taken advantage of early voting went to the polls on Tuesday to cast their vote and the results are in. Here in St. James Parish, voters had several local races to decide and some local candidates were elected outright, and some will have to once again do battle in the run-off/General Election on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
The contractor hired by the Town of Lutcher to resurface Fifth Street from LA 3193 to Buddy Whitney Street has been making progress and Mayor Patrick St. Pierre told the Aldermen Tuesday night during the regular monthly Town meeting that the street should be repaired and ready for public use by the end of November. Anyone who had traversed this street in the past knows this section of Fifth was down right deplorable as the street was not only covered with extremely deep pot-holes and littered with speed bumps, but half of the road’s surface had eroded away in several sections. The street is currently closed and will remain that way while the contractor removes the old asphalt street, prepares the base, and pours the concrete, which will last much, much longer than traditional asphalt.
