GRAMERCY VOTERS APPROVE SEWERAGE SYSTEM: Sometimes people ask the dates that certain things began or ended. When I happen upon some of these articles, I include them to answer those questions. Voters in the Town of Gramercy voted September 29, 1959, to install a sanitary sewer collection and disposal system within the town limits. The project specifications called for spending $781,219.00, but that amount could be lessened with the help of federal aid which had been applied for. The Board of Health delayed condemning many of the cesspools to handle sewage in Gramercy until the voters had a change to cast their opinion.
