It's so easy to take life for granted. My daughter Ronny experienced this several years ago while packing away her Christmas decorations. She thought she was finished when she noticed a tall, blue vase covered with silver glitter sitting on the floor of her living room. It's so easy to overlook something you've seen every day for a month.
I went to the store Monday morning to get some seasonings and rice for the seafood gumbo I decided to cook. I love shopping at local stores because I meet a friend down every aisle. One was buying andouille, smoked sausage and chicken for her gumbo and another was getting all the veggies and meat for a vegetable soup. All three of us were planning to cook a lot because of the cold weather forecast for next week. Isn’t that funny? We’re preparing for the cold weather next week by cooking eight days in advance. Who really needs an excuse to cook anyway? In case you do, remember that the weather on Monday is forecast to be wet, slushy, and cold. Be prepared to cook some hot stuff.
How’s the new year going for you? I laughed at someone’s recent social media post stating their new year would begin February 1 because January had too much drama going on. Sorry to break it to them, but 2025 is here and it’s up to us to make the best of it.
