For Shandria Smith, a Vacherie native and St. James HS alumna, Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans was more than just another major sporting event it was a culmination of passion, dedication, and deep-rooted love for the game. When she received the official invite to be a 2025 Super Bowl Host Committee Ambassador Captain, it wasn’t just another professional milestone, it was full-circle moment to embrace aspects of a journey. With this year’s championship marking her fifth Super Bowl involvement, Smith brought both expertise and passion to the 11th iteration of the NFL’s biggest event in New Orleans.

Tiny gold sequins (1/4 inch in diameter) can still be found throughout my house. They are reminders of the hours I spent working on a dress for my granddaughter Adeline. The dress she chose for her school’s carnival ball had an opening on the back of the bodice, and I assured her that I could cover it. I shouldn’t have projected such confidence.
