Being a bonfire baby, the Festival of the Bonfires has always held a special place in my heart. In my time as Teen Miss Festival of the Bonfires I attended many events across the state of Louisiana and traveled over 1,100 miles. During my reign I was able to eat all the boudin my heart desired in Scott, hop with the frogs in Rayne, have a smoking good time in the Andouille capital of the world, enjoy the “Bon Mange” of Gheens and have a citrusy sweet time in Plaquemines Parish. For me, it wasn’t about the crown or the title but the opportunity to meet the most amazing people and educate those on our very special tradition. Sharing my love for the bonfire festival throughout the state at other festivals was a joy. As this was my first title I went into this new world blind to all it had to offer but, seeing Louisiana through the eyes of a festival queen is truly something that you don't understand until you’ve done it. I would like to thank all of the people who made her reign a dream!! I would also like to thank the Festival of the Bonfires for giving me the opportunity to be an advocate. The festival represents the community and our ability to come together and celebrate the Christmas season. I’ve always said, “If you don’t run into at least 10 people you know at the festival, somethings wrong.” I loved my time being able to represent The Festival of the Bonfires, St. James Parish, and our Christmas tradition where we light the way for Papa Noel.
Being involved in this Festival and our unique tradition is like no other. I have been given the opportunity this past year to travel our great state and inform them of what our community has to offer, along with promoting the Festival of the Bonfires and our unique tradition. My travels have stretched far and wide from Lake Charles to Belle Chasse and everywhere in between, for approximately 4,500 miles.
