St. James High Principal Shane Kliebert last week announced plans to plant trees at the Vacherie campus. The St. James Parish School Board last week gave unanimous approval to Kliebert’s plans to continue the rich tradition of the great oak trees at St. James High. The tree saplings were planted in the 1920’s and 1930’s by St. James High School agriculture and 4-H students. The trees were cared for and grew to provide shade and picturesque beauty as they lined the entrance and exit to the former school site in St. James. One hundred years later, the 2019 senior class sponsored and planted two new oak trees at the new Vacherie campus.

Even in its current state this bridge is designed to exceed the load-bearing capacity of current traffic
