Members of the environmental group Inclusive Louisiana gathered in Convent on Sunday, June 20th, to march against air, water and land pollution in Convent and all of St. James.
With several hundred types of hibiscus, one could write a book on this plant alone — and many have done so. The name hibiscus gets its origins from the ancient Greek word “hibiskos,” which means marsh mallow or white mallow. Greek physician Dioscorides, who served in the Roman army, is credited with giving the plant this name.
July 4th is Independence Day, a holiday packed with summer tradition. Perhaps you’ll find yourself barbequing, relaxing by the water, or blowing up a small part of the American landscape with Chinese-made fireworks. And of course, what would this celebration be without watermelon and… pumpkin?
St. James Parish Government, Department of Human Resources, Community Action Agency will offer a four-hour virtual financial literacy training to St. James Parish 2021 High School Graduates.
