Fresh off of capturing its Division II non-select baseball championship, the Lutcher High-based Cypress Physical Therapy summer baseball team will begin play this week.
The St. James Boys & Girls Track & Field Teams participated in the Region 3 Track meet held in New Orleans.
St. James Parish Retired Teachers will meet on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Registration will be at 10:30, meeting at 11:00. The meeting will be at the CTC in the Human Capital Center. More information will be coming via email, newspaper and social media.
Dr. Carl Poche, at age 93, has moved on to his heavenly reward after a long career as a local family physician. He was another in a group of St. James Parish doctors who were so very dedicated to their medical vocation. A graduate of Lutcher High School, he went on the graduate from LSU Medical School in 1956 and interned at Charity Hospital in New Orleans before returning home to start his medical practice. A U. S. Army Veteran, Dr. Poche had a 52year career of serving the people of the Lutcher, Gramercy, Reserve, and Garyville area. Dr. Poche contributed six of his own children to the medical profession: Drs. Randall and Jerry Poche, his sons; two daughters are nurses, a daughter is a physical therapist, and another daughter is a medical office manager. He was the parish coroner for several years and the team doctor for almost every sport at Lutcher High School. He served on the St. James Parish Hospital Board and was integral in the success of that hospital. Rest in peace, Dr. Poche, and thank you for your dedication to the health profession, to the overall health of the St. James Parish community and for helping to build a better St. James Parish.
