The Lutcher High Lady Bulldog Softball team saw its season begin on a successful note after defeating Berwick and East Ascension in a pair of non-district contests played last week.
The Lutcher High Bulldog Basketball team ended District 7-4A play with a 48-44 loss to the Ellender Patriots. Lutcher fell to 4-2 in league play and a third-place finish in the District 7-4A standings. The Bulldogs, now 1416 overall, will await its playoff assignment. The LHSAA will announce the playoff pairings on Monday, Feb. 19 for all non-select Division II teams. First-round playoff games begin on Friday, Feb. 23. Lutcher enters the postseason ranked 23rd in the latest Division II power ratings. The top 28 teams qualify for the state playoffs.
The Lutcher High Lady Bulldogs participated in the St. Charles Catholic softball Jamboree last weekend and in the abbreviated three-inning games Lutcher defeated in-parish rival St. James and lost to St. Amant.
The Lutcher High Bulldog basketball team came away with 54-40 victory over the Assumption Mustangs in a District 74A battle played at the Bulldog gym.
The St. James Wildcat basketball team had five players score in double figures to help lift the Wildcats to a 68-67 victory over in-parish rival Lutcher in a non-district contest.
