The Lutcher Lady Bulldog Basketball team split a pair of non-district contests after defeating the Bonnabel Lady Bruins and losing to the Ascension Catholic Lady Bulldogs.
The St. James Wildcat basketball team tipped-off the 2023 season by hosting their own tournament where they split a pair of games when they beat Assumption and fell in overtime to in-parish rival Lutcher.
The All-District 8-III Volleyball team was announced by the league coaches and several members to the Lutcher High Lady Bulldogs made the elite squad. District champion E.D. White dominated the selections including the Defensive MVP award and Coach of the Year honors. The Defensive MVP went to junior Libero Olivia Besson. The Offensive MVP went to Neal Grace Berry of Vandebilt Catholic. The Coach of the Year honor went to Sarah Johnson of E.D. White.
The St. James Wildcat football team suffered a devastating and heartbreaking loss last Friday afternoon in the Caesars Superdome when the Union Parish Farmers, with :11 remaining in the game, scored and converted a two-point play to beat the Wildcats 36-35 and take home the Division III (Non-select) State Championship trophy.
The Lutcher Lady Bulldog Basketball team suffered its second loss of the season when the Plaquemine Lady Green devils came away with a 45-37 victory last week.
