Darryl Paul Plaisance passed away on January 21, 2022 at the age of 73. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1948 to Edward Joseph and Agnes Arceneaux Plaisance. He was a member of Archbishop Rummel High School’s Charter Class of 1966 and then earned his Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies from Southeastern Louisiana University. Before retiring, he worked as the Director of Purchasing and Distribution for Smoothie King, Inc. Darryl was a lifelong member of the National Hot Rod Association. He enjoyed spending his free time not only restoring his 1968 Chevy Nova but helping his friends restore and show their hot rods as well. Darryl was also a fixture on the sidelines of the New Orleans soccer community. From his time as a licensed coach of his daughter’s state champion teams, to serving on the board of the Lafreniere Soccer Association, Darryl’s passion for soccer was ever-present. This passion was obvious to anyone who shared a sideline with him as he watched his children play through college. Indeed, Darryl’s love of soccer continued as he always seemed to find ways to watch as many of his grandchildren’s games as possible. Despite being an active dad and grandpa, Darryl was ever the man for others who managed to always find time to help his friends and neighbors with anything they might have needed.
