DETILLIER

Kerwick “Speedy” James Detillier was born on May 18, 1950 and passed away on August 24, 2021 at the age of 71 years old. He was a native of Lutcher, LA and a resident of Pierre Part, LA.

Kerwick is survived by his wife of 28 years, Renette “Minnie” Simoneaux Detillier; son, Karey Detillier (Jennifer); grandson, Nicholas Pullen; sisters, Peggy Detillier Vicknair (Carl-Lee) and Lynette Detillier Beall (Bob); as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Gloria Roussel Detillier and mother-in-law, Yvonne Tabb. Kerwick was a very hardworking man with a kind heart. He loved to help others, and no one was ever considered a stranger. One of his greatest passions in life was living on the water and fishing. In his younger days, he drove the school bus that transported college students to and from Nicholls. He was a mechanic and was employed by Freeport McMoran and Donaldsonville Glass and Body works. He was also a member of the St. James Parish Boat Club, Gramercy Fire Department and served as Alderman of Gramercy.

A visitation was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy, LA on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment took place in St. Joseph Cemetery.
