Susan G. Komen Louisiana today announced its partnership with the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans (CAGNO) to support women and men diagnosed with breast cancer in Louisiana. As part of Komen’s Bold Goal to reduce current breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026, Komen Louisiana will invest over $90,000 into their treatment assistance program.
River Parish Community Theatre recently awarded $500 grants to three area high schools that had spring musicals canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Donations were made to the Riverside Academy Ovations, the St. Charles Catholic Stagehands, and the Lutcher High School Players. Each of the schools had cast and begun rehearsals for their annual shows when the virus halted progress and ultimately forced the cancellations.
The COVID-19 virus has changed everything and many planned events have had to be canceled and/or reconfigured to meet the new guidelines that prevent people from gathering.
Last month, faithful readers, I announced we’d try and host Tomato Field Day in May but all LSU AgCenter face-to-face events through May 30th are cancelled. We now plan to have it June 4th starting at 6 pm. The garden contest won’t happen in person, but how about a facsimile?
