Roughly 60 people gathered at Convent’s St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church on Friday to march, protest and rally against police brutality and to pay tribute to George Floyd, whose death while in police custody in Minneapolis has sparked many nationwide protests.

Steven Tureau announced recently that he is a candidate for District Judge, Division D, in the 23rd Judicial District Court (JDC), which serves Assumption, St. James and Ascension Parishes. The election will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd, the same day as voting for President of the United States and Congressional offices. Early voting is set for October 20th through 27th.
