The St. James Parish Government and Council recently completed a yearlong gas infrastructure improvement project on the Parish’s east bank and the end result is a substantial increase in natural gas pressure to customers in the area.
The Louisiana Department of Enviromental Quality (LDEQ) has proposed an $89,706 fine for Nucor Steel Louisiana following the company notifying the agency in 2019 that it had unknowingly released amounts of sulfuric acid and hydrogen sulfide, two chemicals it was not permitted to release, into the air for roughly six-years.
