St. James High School recently named Willis A. Octave and Lloyd “Peanut” Laurent to the school’s Hall of Distinction. Both men will be honored during an upcoming playoff game.

Perhaps one of the most brilliant and uplifting of flowers is the sunflower. Native to North America and made popular throughout Europe, this plant has a long history. Helen Keller once said, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. It’s what sunflowers do.”
As summer turns into fall men and women are reminded to turn their attention to getting annual screenings for cancers that can be highly treatable when detected early.
