The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Joseph #1642 recently attended the State Convention in Baton Rouge where they received first place in the CDA State Newsletter Contest - Category II Division I.

I was reared and educated through the Saint James Parish Public School System. I have displayed a continuous interest in the Saint James Parish Public School Education System. I have been a resident of the 4th District for over 49 years. I was formally employed by Brown & Root as an accountant and until 2006 I was employed at Mosaic in Saint James as a valve technician.

On Saturday, August 12, 2023, the Miss St. James Parish Sugar Queen Committee celebrated its 70th annual Miss St. James Parish and 31st Miss Teen St. James Parish Pageant. The pageant was held at Lutcher High School Auditorium in Lutcher. The mistress of ceremonies was Kathleen Musso Avenel of Covington, our 1987 Miss St James and Queen Sugar 46th, and the master of ceremonies was Seth Bourgeois of Paulina. The theme for this year’s pageant was “Celebrating 70 Years”.
