As I drive in and around St. James Parish I can’t help but notice when household pets (mainly dogs) are being kept in unsafe and inhumane conditions.
The McNeese State University Honor Roll for the 2022 spring semester has been announced. The honor roll lists undergraduate students earning at least a 3.0 or B average while carrying 12 or more semester hours.

This annual awards event, known as the Circle of Excellence, recognizes the accomplishments and leadership of Cetera’s top financial professionals.
June has been a rough month on vegetable gardens. It got hot quickly, stressing many plants and opening them to attack by insects and diseases. But some gardeners are still doing well and were willing to let LSU AgCenter Master Gardener volunteers (plus my daughter) judge them for our St. James Home Garden Contest. This was the first in-person contest since 2019 so we were glad to have several entries, including a couple of firsttime gardeners.
