St. John Parish Council Votes No To Borrow Pit

When a landowner of a 700 acre tract of land in LaPlace sought to have an ordinance passed to change the zoning on 162 acres of said tract to allow for a borrow pit to be operated on the property, the St. John Parish Council voted 6-3 to deny the request. As you may know, St. James Parish residents who reside in the Hester community and the St. James Parish Council are dealing with a very similar situation as St. James Construction Materials (SJCM) is seeking to dig and sell clay on roughly 400 acres of land known as the Big Shake Pit.

Lady ‘Dogs Win Two Straight

The Lutcher Lady Bulldog Volleyball team captured a pair of wins over John Curtis Christian School and St. Charles Catholic last week. The wins improved Lutcher to 17-10 on the season entering District 6-III play. Against St. Charles Catholic, the Lady 'Dogs came away with a 25-21, 17-25, 17-25, 25-22, 17-15 victory. Lutcher was led by Josie Robertson, who fired 16 kills and two blocks. Teammate Harley Richard added 17 kills and one block. Against John Curtis, the Lady 'Dogs registered a 25-21, 17-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-13 win.
