On Saturday, April 20 individuals and groups from around St. James Parish gathered to pick up litter as part of the Love the Boot Week. Keep St. James Beautiful board of directors planned this event as part of their yearly goals to keep our parish clean and beautiful.
The Lutcher High boys and girls Track & Field team concluded its season with two members reaching the Class 4A state Meet held at LSU. Ciera Cammon and Trenton Chaney of Lutcher each competed in the State Meet.
On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, Capital Area United Way connected with corporate sponsors AGives!, the 501c3 affiliate of Associated Grocers, Inc. & Nucor Steel Louisiana, LLC., along with community partners Zen-Noh Grain, for a United We Feed: Produce Distribution event in St. James Parish at the Convent Senior Center, serving ALICE seniors aged 65 and up.
A new community initiative, PATH (Prevention, Awareness, Treatment, and Hope), was launched in St. John Parish today, providing robust support to individuals battling opioid addiction. The launch featured participation from 30 vendors across Southeast Louisiana, symbolizing a unified front against this crisis.
I am pleased to share that Zesty zinnias (Zinnia elegans) have been named a Louisiana Super Plant for spring 2024. Zinnias are beloved flowers for the garden for their bright, cheerful colors and large flower heads on tall, single stalks. They are great for cut flower production or for just adding bright colors to the landscape. They bloom from late spring through the fall, providing an extended bloom period.
